I have a smartphone...
You have a smartphone...
We ALL have smartphones!
I have two photos of me here, bottom right, raw, left modified to make it pop, have an aura of glamour; let's just say now head's up that's my style, because I want my media to have passion and individuality; A favorite software editing program, sitting with the photo a long long time...amping this...softening that...getting to know it's possibilities.
My aesthetic was incubated in Long Island's North Shore, Great Gatsby style; Before Ralph Lifshitz was Ralph Lauren our clothes became his clothes; Everyone martinied to the gills, joie de vivre & style making the inevitable uber drama tolerable; But as Fitzgerald knew it's how we carry ourselves that matters.
At Atari when Warner Communications CEO Steve Ross bought it, NYC Savvy, Burlington President Ray Kassar made CEO, Magazine covers, famous people all over the place, and style style style baby; We ran fast, we ran hard.
So craziness in the C-Suite/Preparing for a movie launch featuring Apple's first and only computer for kids/Being the entire marketing communications staff member for epic start-ups...never being allowed to be mundane...never wanting to be mundane...helps to be street-smart and humble, long game.
For the unusual portrait at left I used my home, a dress from my client wardrobe, and shot her from the back, the tiny glowing peninsula of leg and hand peaking out; The full back portrait, the companion piece, they've hung over their bedroom's fireplace.
And for more full disclosure, once a very shy, introverted person, after pouring wine at so-so winery while studying to be a Sommelier, I learned some secrets about the human soul from behind the bar...It is best caught unaware, when it is not posing...when it's IT.
I will stop ANYONE (almost) and say "May I take your picture? You're presenting demi-god today baby!" Just ask Josh and Heather Altman whom I bushwhacked at Carmel, California's "The Quail" event.
Among all my camera equipment, my android smartphone gives me the speed to capture cool moments, but time to make them laugh...There's real authenticity in their smiles.
Because the phone has become invisible...Because
