There Are Two Options For Printing Acrylic Photos
Both options involve placing an image under a sheet of acrylic, which protects it from harmful elements such as humidity and dirt.
Acrylic Photo Mounting
This acrylic printing technique involves creating a photo on glossy or metallic photo paper and mounting it under plexiglass.
Prints Giclee Shop provides acrylic prints on Lexjet Metallic and Epson Premium Glossy papers. Due to their superior smooth finish and high gloss, these two papers are an excellent choice for acrylic mounted photos.
Printing Directly on Acrylic
Unlike acrylic photo mounting, printing directly on acrylic fuses the ink to the surface with UV curing technology.
Direct acrylic prints do not use paper, and as a result, your picture can be placed in covered outdoor areas.

When printing on acrylic, what thickness do you recommend?
Side Finish Choices
We offer two side finish options.
Smooth Edges
Smooth edges give a frosted finish to the sides. This finish is standard for prints on 1/8” thick plexiglass.
Polished Edges
Polished edges give a clear view all around the image. It is recommended for prints on 1/4” thick plexiglass. Polished Edges are standard for Acrylic Blocks.
Backing & Sub-Frame
We believe that the back of your acrylic print is as important as the front. Therefore, we use Dibond aluminum, or Sintra PVC as the backing support. Additionally, we attach an aluminum sub-frame for wall mounting and added stability.
Dibond is a highly durable material made of two aluminum layers and a black resin core. The resulting product is exceptionally flat, lightweight, and sturdy. Dibond also helps prevent your image from bending over time. This benefit is critical, especially for larger print sizes.
Sintra is a lightweight yet rigid board made from PVC plastic. This backing option is an economical alternative to Dibond. Our Direct Acrylic Prints will come with your choice of white or black Sintra.
The aluminum sub-frame adds stability and ease of mounting. We provide all the hardware needed to mount your print. All you need is a level and a hammer. The sub-frame is 3/4” thick, making your image look as if it is magically floating on the wall.
